A study on Satisfaction of nurses on nursing practice and relation between the role recognized by nurses and role expectation of patients and doctors


Abstract
In this study author attempted to clarify the relation between the role recognized by nurses and role expectations of patients and doctors and satisfaction of clinical nurses on working environment, hospital supplies, salaries, cooperation between hospital personnels. For the purpose to study above matters, 312 nurses, 90 doctors and 87 patients were sampled from 3 general hospital and 3 university hospital in Seoul during 2 months from July, 1975. to August, 1975. The results obtained in this study were as follows. 1. The nurses who were working at hospitals are satisfied averagely with their nursing practice and are dissatisfied with their salaries. 2. The ranking of the troubles on duty recognized by nurses represents the order of overwork, lack of patients¢¥ cooperation, lack of hospital supplies, inadequate working environment, lack of cooperation between hospital personnels. 3. The ranking of the lack of cooperation between hospital personnels represented by nurses represents the order of the medical technicians, doctors, administrative personnels, nurses. 4. Between the nurses¢¥ own belief and the patients¢¥ expectation, significant differences are founded (P<0.01). 5. Level of intra group consensus are relatively high and ranking of the level represents the order of the nurses¢¥, patients¢¥, doctors¢¥ group.
